Vegetable-tanned buffalo
The leather you see being carved here is vegetable-tanned buffalo — dense enough to hold every cut line by hand, and it deepens in colour as it ages. No laser, no print.

The hand-laced heritage line
Our most involved work: fully carved by hand, and where the piece calls for it, laced by hand at the edges. Each one takes days at the bench and can never be repeated exactly. These are the bags we put our name on without reservation.
A family workshop in Cairo
This is where it started — a Cairo workshop, one craftsman, in 1986. What he built has stayed in the family and in the same hands ever since. Kanz is what that craft became.
